TWAS THE BLOG BEFORE CHRISTMAS

SOME PEOPLE WERE NAUGHTY AND SOME WERE NICE!
334. Welcome all of you to Blog 31. I thought you might need a side of Blog to go along with your turkey and stuffing. I got one of my Christmas gifts early this year. See the text below.

As I said on the last Blog, this text is probably the most important one so far because it clarifies two things. First it shows the Mayor’s intent all along to pull our license. Secondly, it shows that he admits that there is no way Jordan Wheat, the potential buyer, was going to get a license even though he and Melissa Hyatt had never even met her. And that is despite the fact that the city had previously said that Jordan would have to be part of the discussion because they would not give one to me. These two are definitely on my naughty, nasty, gross, sickening and mentally unstable list.
“JORDAN WHEAT AND RYAN BURT”
335.I feel a prelude is necessary to the second half of this ongoing saga. Our retirement was on the horizon and we were thinking of selling Palace Bar. In January 2022, after many discussions, we decided to have a meeting with Jordan Wheat, our candidate. The meeting went well and she accepted our terms.
Jordan would start her job as General Manager and learn the “ropes” of the management and business end of the bar. This mentoring would lead to ownership down the road. Throughout the blog, we have been painted in a bad way by Mayor Paine. The behavior of others has been thrown on us as though we were the criminals. So in light of that, a little background of the young lady that we chose is in order.
Jordan Wheat came to Superior, WI to attend University of Wisconsin, Superior. As a Freshman in 2015 she applied for a job at Shorty’s Pizza & Smoked Meat, the restaurant and bar we also owned. Jordan was hired as a part time server. Over the years, she had several roles within the restaurant. She managed the front of the house, did scheduling, hiring, training, and handled money. As was the procedure, once you mastered the dining room, a shift to the bar was a possibility if you were
interested. Jordan made that leap and was a very successful bartender with many regulars coming to see her.
She also took a year of online classes so she could work full time at the restaurant and help in management. She was someone we could trust and rely on. She understood our procedures and followed them as required.
While working at Shorty’s and completing school she also coached volleyball. She played in high school and Club ball in the Twin Cities prior to coming to Superior. She had stints as the Head JV coach at Duluth East High School, part time coach for the Men’s volleyball team at University of Minnesota, Duluth and also was a part time coach at Club Tonka and the Northland Volleyball Club. After graduation in 2019, she left Shorty’s to pursue work in her field.
Jordan graduated from UWS with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a Minor in Coaching and marketing. She also holds certificates in CPR, First Responder and Lifeguarding. Jordan worked in a chiropractic office and attended classes in the Twin Cities.
She came back to work at Shorty’s as a casual fill in bartender when needed. She also worked as a casual fill in bartender on weekends at the Palace beginning in the Fall of 2021. In light of her loyalty and abilities in the field of hospitality, we chose Jordan to interview and then hire going forward on February 14, 2022. She was excited to join us and have a “hands on” learning environment prior to becoming a small business owner.
Standing proudly beside her is her partner, Staff Sergeant Ryan Burt of the US Army. He has served 12 years with tours overseas. He is still currently serving. They also made the move to Superior to be closer to her new job. Jordan has always been a hard working individual with an outstanding work ethic and eagerness to learn.

336. Ugh! A new text below. I have to say ladies and gentlemen that it’s getting harder and harder for me to re-read and have to report on the these two foul mouthed floozies babble on with their vile, non-factual lies. It’s like two children in Grade 3 nattering a bunch of nonsense.

COMMENTS
Two things here. Look at the date. It’s Oct 11, 2022. That’s almost four months since the last texts. Lots of stuff was going on during those four months. I will do a complete timeline from July 1, 2022 until December 31, 2022 in a later Blog. The city is saying they don’t have any communications between of any these two nonsensical nut balls for almost four months. I don’t believe it and I don’t think our readers do either. The other thing is the Mayor is once again doubling down on not giving Jordan the license without any meaningful discussions.
337. Bad news. Another text below.

She’s very inquisitive isn’t she?
338. And yet one more text. I had to read this one a few times to figure out what the hell she was trying to say.

Another day, another ailment for Melissa Hyatt. This time it’s an upset stomach. I should do an entire Blog about her medical issues related to the Palace but I won’t because it would probably make me sick. I did google her latest condition. So, here is some free medical advice.
“Most stomach aches can be treated at home. During the first 24 to 36 hours, the best treatment is a diet of clear liquids in frequent, small amounts. Drink enough fluids to keep your urine a pale yellow or clear color. If you vomit, start with sips of water or sucking on ice chips. “
As far as “Tony” goes, he was an employee at the Palace when I bought it. I kept some of the staff and he was one of them. He was a bartender and very experienced at fixing things around the bar. In the final year or two that the Palace was opened he wanted to cut back on his hours and worked Saturday and Sunday day shifts and also filled in when needed. He also continued doing handyman work. He or any other employees weren’t part of any discussions or stipulations in the sale of the Palace to Jordan. If she had bought it then it would have been up to her to make staff decisions. Melissa then goes on, with no explanation whatsoever to say that “on some level he was part of the problem”.
No Melissa, you are the problem.
As far as her implication that Jordan, who had only started at the Palace full time a month before the ONLY shooting had worked at Shorty’s for several years was a bad thing. As if having worked at two of the most successful hospitality venues in the city was a bad thing. What a warped, evil way that she looks at things. Folks, ask yourself this question. Would you rather have my wife and I or Melissa Hyatt and Mayor Paine be your mentors?

339. One last thing, Melissa. The one thing that Jordan has learned is you look at all sides of a story. You don't make assumptions or jump to conclusions. You get information based on facts not accusations, rumors and hearsay. You are void of any sense of decency when closing down someone's livelihood is on your agenda. And to feed the "powers that be" into it the way you did shows you are a selfish manipulator.
Again, you chose to live between two bars at your own free will. I'd place money on the fact that not once did it cross your mind how your desire for closure would impact the staff, the enjoyment of our longstanding customers and our retirement.
It's a pity that the Mayor, Police and possible others hung on your every word. It's a pity they didn't have a look at all sides of the story, move forward with solutions and help to resolve problems. Quite frankly it’s unbelievable they didn’t see through your lies and deceit and somehow thought that it seemed perfectly normal to shut down a viable business.

I believe that you, the Mayor and possibly others should be spending time in jail for what you have done. Only time will tell. But I’ll tell you this, I will keep pursuing the truth and we will get to the bottom of this. We are nowhere even close to being done. I have enough information to run this Blog for a very long time.

MY FAVORITE STORY OF THE YEAR

You all know how much I love dogs so I’d like to end this blog with a story about a dog called Igor. This story has gone viral over the last few weeks.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — It was an emotional moment when former Shaker Heights police officer Chad Hagan and his family were reunited with the K-9 that’s been in their family since 2018.
“We’re happy to have our family back for Christmas,” Chad said Friday afternoon. The family learned earlier in the day that they will get to keep Igor.“ He was excited, he was jumping all over us,” said Chad’s wife, Danielle Hagan. “Well, he could care less about me, to be honest. He was jumping all over Chad, just very excited to see us.”
The Shaker Heights City Council held a special meeting at noon to decide whether to change an ordinance that prevented the city from retiring Igor and selling him to the former officer and his family. Igor was in a kennel for more than two weeks, after the family had to surrender him. “It’s been so hard on him, just being away from his best friend. The dog he’s been with every day for the past five and a half years, it was a lot,” said Danielle. Now, the family was able to purchase Igor from the Shaker Heights Police Department for $16,500. “Whatever we had to do to get Igor back was what we were going to do,” said the officer’s wife. “You know, we appreciate the city of Shaker Heights.”
“We genuinely appreciate the love of animals that has inspired so many people from across the country and beyond to share their thoughts on this situation,” Shaker Heights Mayor David Weiss said. “Our ordinance, which reflects long-standing state law and was known to Officer Hagan, did not provide the authority to address situations when a police officer leaves the department in advance of the retirement of their canine. Today’s Council action to amend the ordinance enables the amicable resolution reached today.”
COMMENTS
There is a backstory to this. Apparently the Chief of Police did not want to sell the dog because he was miffed that Officer Hagan was leaving the force and moving to another one. But when the story went worldwide the pressure on the small city of Shaker Heights (pop. 29,000) was enormous so their City Council stepped up and a resolution was reached. Wouldn’t it
be nice if our City Council stepped up and did the right thing. You can visit the link below to see the video.
