AS MY STOMACH TURNS

And burns and churns!

170. Thanks for tuning in and welcome to the Blog. We have garbage cans, secret meetings, special guests and more. So, let’s not waste any time. Back to the banter.

171. So, what Melissa Hyatt and the Mayor are talking about here is arranging a meeting at the library to talk about the Palace. What’s weird to me is, why there? Why not city hall? I have had hundreds of meetings over the years and I can’t remember having one at a neutral location.

172. Of course she could not help herself and mention “drinking outside”. As I said before, I will have a whole segment on this on a later blog. Anyway, I sent an email to the city to find out more about this meeting. See Below.

Subject: Request for info on meeting March 29, 2022

Frog,

One of the pieces of information you sent me has a text from Melissa Hyatt to the Mayor dated on March 28. 2022 about a meeting at the library on March 29, 2022. The meeting had to do with the Palace Bar. Is there any info. on this meeting? Minutes? Who was there? What did they talk about etc? Why was the meeting at the library instead of City Hall?

Thanks, Brian

Here is the response (see below)

Good afternoon Mr. Noel,

My office was not involved in any meeting at the public library on March 29, 2022 and my office has no records or information relevant to such an event. I did speak with Mayor Paine about your request and he thinks he may have met with Ms. Hyatt and another citizen on or about that date. However, as the grouping of the mayor and two citizens is not a “governmental body” as that term is defined in state statute, there was no governmental “meeting.” There is no notice requirement for such a gathering and no obligation to record notes or “minutes.” Mayor Paine assures me that he has no written notes relevant to your request (other than the text that you have referenced).

Don’t you find it odd that the city has no rules about the Mayor having a meeting with someone who wants to shut down another business and it’s not recorded? Yet, I couldn't even have a phone call with a councilor without him getting permission from someone at the city. And by the way, we never had that call. (see Blog 1, point 39). By not including me at that meeting, does that sound like someone who is trying to reach a solution?

And check out the timeline when “Swifty Jim” responds to her requests. That will be important in future blogs. My favorite part of the response was “I did speak with Mayor Paine about your request and he thinks he may have met with Ms. Hyatt and another citizen on or about that date”. That’s a pretty lousy memory for such a young guy. Wait till he gets to be my age. I will have an update on this matter in the next blog.

173. Here is the next text. It’s dated April 1, 2022. April fools day.

It’s dated at 5:20 am on April 1, 2022. Sadly, I don’t think that was a prank. Do you not have any respect for anyone? Sending a text about garbage cans to the Mayor at 5:20 am? Really?

Well, that’s enough garbage from me today. See you soon.

Brian

174. One last thing. I saw a letter from a reader in the Las Vegas Review Journal the other day that I wanted to share with you. (see below) And, yes I did add the bottom part in. I guess “I couldn't help myself.”

Small town edge

The left claims the Jason Aldean song “Try That In a Small Town” is racist. Let’s look at some facts.

In a small town, if you riot, destroy property and start cars on fire, you’re going to jail.

In a big city such as New York, you’re called an activist and might even get a payout from the city. Advantage, small town.

In a small town, if you spit on a cop, you’re going to jail. In the city, you are hailed a hero for supporting social justice and celebrated on CNN and MSNBC. Advantage, small town.

In a small town, if you defecate on the street and do drugs in plain view, you’re going to jail. In the big city, you’re handed a check and drug paraphernalia. Advantage, small town.

This song would strike you as being “racist” or a “lynching anthem” only if you wake up every morning and view every human event you see through a prism of “social justice.” The people who make this claim are psychotic, and they are uneducated as to the way most of America lives. That majority of Americans believe in fairness, justice and being kind to your neighbors — and they hail Mr. Aldean’s song as a tribute to their way of life, whether they be Black, brown or white. Time to move to a small town.

In a small town the Mayor is Jim Paine. In the big city he isn't.

Advantage, Big City.
