487. Welcome to Blog 56. We will pick up from where we left off on Blog 54. I said that the text below was a twofer. On that Blog we addressed their “Plan” for pulling our license. Today we will address the situation about Jordan applying for the license. And don’t forget that Frog Prell, the city attorney had told my lawyer that the city would not entertain a license for the Palace unless Jordan was the applicant.

Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority, still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it.

COMMENT
I think that this three sentence text(See above) from Mayor Paine to Melissa Hyatt is not only the most damning text between these two, but it also is the most accurate description of what their true intentions were. The mayor admits that they “Pulled the license” and that he lies when he said “But we made it clear that wasn’t acceptable to us so it won’t do much good for her to apply.” He is referring to Jordan, but we were told by city attorney Frog Prell that Jordan would have to be the one applying for the license because there was no way that they would give it to me. Who did he make it “Clear” to? Not us. Maybe the “WE” and “US” is the Mayor and Melissa Hyatt.”
The other important thing is the date of the text, June 23, 2022. We were still open at that time and my lawyer was still negotiating, or at least he thought he was, with the city to find a pathway to getting Jordan a license.
I wonder if city attorney Prell, Chief Alexander and/or City Council knew of the Mayor’s intentions. I ask that because if they did, don’t you think it would be their obligation to let us know? Don’t you think at some point a serious discussion about an investigation into the Mayor’s activities would have taken place? What about the Mayor? Why didn't he just say he was unwilling to meet and that he wasn't interested in negotiating? He didn’t and led us on a six month ordeal that was mentally exhausting and financially devastating. I can only imagine that the two chuckle heads, Paine and Hyatt, must have had some good laughs watching Jordan jumping from hoop to hoop for six months trying to keep up with the various requests from the Mayor not knowing her fate had been decided long ago.
That’s why I ran the “Power Corrupts” piece above which I took from Google. Fits the Mayor to a tee doesn't it? This is a man drunk with power with no ethics or morals that should be removed from office and should be criminally charged as well. I also think Melissa Hyatt is like a human cloning experiment gone wrong. It would not surprise me if Paine went around giving out bracelets that said “WWJPD”. That stands for “WHAT WOULD JIM PAINE DO”.
489. Below is part of Blog 31 that was published Dec 21, 2023. It gave you an insight into Jordan Wheat and her husband Ryan Burt. I felt it timely to reprint part of this Blog and them I will give you updates and comments
JORDAN AND RYAN
I feel a prelude is necessary to the second half of this ongoing saga. Our retirement was on the horizon and we were thinking of selling Palace Bar. In January 2022, after many discussions, we decided to have a meeting with Jordan Wheat, our candidate. The meeting went well and she accepted our terms.
Jordan would start her job as General Manager and learn the “ropes” of the management and business end of the bar. This mentoring would lead to ownership down the road. Throughout the blog, we have been painted in a bad way by Mayor Paine. The behavior of others has been thrown on us as though we were the criminals. So in light of that, a little background of the young lady that we chose is in order.
Jordan Wheat came to Superior, WI to attend University of Wisconsin, Superior. As a Freshman in 2015 she applied for a job at Shorty’s Pizza & Smoked Meat, the restaurant and bar we also owned. Jordan was hired as a part time server. Over the years, she had several roles within the restaurant. She managed the front of the house, did scheduling, hiring, training, and handled money. As was the procedure, once you mastered the dining room, a shift to the bar was a possibility if you were
interested. Jordan made that leap and was a very successful bartender with many regulars coming to see her.
She also took a year of online classes so she could work full time at the restaurant and help in management. She was someone we could trust and rely on. She understood our procedures and followed them as required.
While working at Shorty’s and completing school she also coached volleyball. She played in high school and Club ball in the Twin Cities prior to coming to Superior. She had stints as the Head JV coach at Duluth East High School, part time coach for the Men’s volleyball team at University of Minnesota, Duluth and also was a part time coach at Club Tonka and the Northland Volleyball Club. After graduation in 2019, she left Shorty’s to pursue work in her field.
Jordan graduated from UWS with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a Minor in Coaching and marketing. She also holds certificates in CPR, First Responder and Lifeguarding. Jordan worked in a chiropractic office and attended classes in the Twin Cities.
She came back to work at Shorty’s as a casual fill in bartender when needed. She also worked as a casual fill in bartender on weekends at the Palace beginning in the Fall of 2021. In light of her loyalty and abilities in the field of hospitality, we chose Jordan to interview and then hire going forward on February 14, 2022. She was excited to join us and have a “hands on” learning environment prior to becoming a small business owner.
Standing proudly beside her is her partner, Staff Sergeant Ryan Burt of the US Army. He has served 12 years with tours overseas. He is still currently serving. They also made the move to Superior to be closer to her new job. Jordan has always been a hard working individual with an outstanding work ethic and eagerness to learn.
UPDATE AND COMMENTS
490. So what happened to Jordan and Ryan? Well, when we offered her this opportunity in early 2022 they sold their home and moved from Cloquet, MN to Superior. Then in December 2022 when she was denied a license they moved to Duluth in 2023. So congratulations to Mayor Paine. You just lost two more residents due to your corrupt actions. Oh, wait a minute make that three residents, because in Jan 2024 Jordan and Ryan welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world.
The only thing that Paine had on his resume of any real value, in my opinion, was his military service. So you would think that Ryan, a fellow soldier and her husband would carry some weight as far as what kind of people they are. They are exactly the kind of people any city in America would welcome, except for Corrupt Jim Paine’s Superior, WI. They were going to buy a house here and based on their income would have been above average taxpaying citizens. But that was not to be.

I’ll say this much, Jordan would have have been a far better bar owner than Jim Paine is at being a mayor. I lived under many mayors while living in Ottawa, Fort Myers, Superior and now Las Vegas and Paine is by far the worst one I have had the displeasure of living under. Worse than Mayor Shitty, worse than Mayor Beetlejuice,
you Jim Paine are the worst Mayor ever! So congratulations on that. You earned it.
