MANIFESTO OF A MADMAN PART 4

SOUR NOTE

FACE OF EVIL
THE MOUTHPIECE HAS FALLEN OUT OF THE HORN AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!
496. Welcome to Blog 58. Today we will continue analyzing the Mayor’s letter to City Council and Shelly Nelson from the Telerag. And by the way I wouldn't be surprised if one other person got a copy of the letter. Can you guess who? Her initials are M.H. You know what? I’m going to send an information request right now to the city. Here it is.

Request # 3
Hi Rebecca,
I was wondering if you could tell me if Melissa Hyatt received a copy of the Mayor's letter to City Council dated Dec 6, 2022, and if so when.
Thanks, Brian
I will let you know when I hear something. Now back to the Mayor’s letter
497.
THE LONG LETTER

Lie # 3
The Mayor goes on to say the following:
“Chief among these reasons were the management's inability to maintain a safe, orderly, and peaceful establishment. We pointed out that this tavern was the source of significant criminal activity and disorder, including violence.”
Comments on Lie # 3

This is one of the many examples of the Mayor’s “Truman Show” moments. What is the Truman Show? The AP quotes the following: “This parallel reality is like the Truman Show.
People believe it’s reality.” Google explains it this way: “One of the still-resonant messages of The Truman Show is that mass media has a way of making, and then simply becoming,
reality. Sound familiar?

What the Mayor is attempting to do here is to paint the Palace in the worst possible way so he could get the support of you the public and City Council. It’s a canned type of statement that politicians use all the time, devoid of facts, to sway the public's opinion on a subject to attain their ideological goal. They lie about the truth and try to attain the support of the people. Their goal is to win what is called the court of public opinion and he has done a good job of that since he sent me that letter in April, 2022. There is only one problem. It’s not based on facts or truth. He dreams up these crazy scenarios in his warped mind to convince you that the Palace is the worst place in the world, when in reality the Palace is no different or worse than other bars of it’s size. And the facts support that. And those facts were obtained from the city itself.

498. The Mayor said: “the management's inability to maintain a safe, orderly, and peaceful establishment.” Not True. We had a zero tolerance policy on all disorderly activities that was strictly enforced and almost all of them were lifetime bans and we were criticized for that, mostly by some customers more than once.
499. He then goes on to say:
“We pointed out that this tavern was the source of significant criminal activity and disorder, including violence.“
COMMENTS
His choice of words “The source of significant criminal activity and disorder, including violence“ are meant to portray us in a light that we were far worse than any other bar in town. Hence the word “Significant “. The fact is, most or at least the more successful bars all have a certain degree of these activities. After all we are talking here about bars. For good or bad that is part of the business. And by the way these activities happen in other businesses that aren’t bars. Don’t forget, the three businesses with the most police calls are Walmart, Kwik Trip on Hammond and Super One. And we have the facts to back it up and I’ll post them a little further down here on the Blog.

Lie # 4
He then goes on to say:
“The bar had been the source of frequent complaints from neighbors.”
COMMENTS
I am going to address his comment by sending out the following information request to the Mayor today. Here it is and I will let you know when I get a response.

REQUEST # 4
Mayor Paine,
On your letter on December 5, 2022 you stated the following:
“The bar had been the source of frequent complaints from neighbors.”
My requests are the following:
1-Can you provide me the names of these neighbors other than Melissa Hyatt.
2- Can you explain to me why you or anybody else at the city never came to me about their complaints because other than Melissa Hyatt I have no knowledge of any complaints from any other neighbors.

Lie # 5-THIS ONE IS A BIG LIE
Next he says:
“Throughout the first half of 2022, the Palace was the cause of more police calls than any other establishment in the city.”
COMMENTS
This is 100% not true. And he knew or should have known this in December of 2022. I did an entire Blog about police calls. It was Blog 22 and here is a link to that Blog: blog 22 (palacebartruth.com) He had access to these numbers because they were given to me in 2023 by the city. I did not have these numbers in 2022. It wasn't until some time in 2023 that I actually got them. In Blog 22 I broke down three different ways to decipher the calls. I will show you below three sets of numbers from that Blog. The first one is the numbers provided from the city, the second takes out the “bar checks, alarms etc.” and the third set is based on the “hours open method.” Here they are:
NUMBERS # 1- PROVIDED FROM THE CITY
2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021* | 2022(Jan-June) | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Palace Bar | 29 | 47 | 115 | 230 | 56 |
Centerfold’s | 38 | 38 | 70 | 123 | 40 |
Builder’s/Boardroom | 20 | 61 | 71 | 154 | 58 |
*= This is when the police had performed 95 bar checks in 90 days i2021. In my opinion they were weaponizing the system in order to skew the numbers.
NUMBERS # 2-TAKING OUT BAR CHECKS ETC.
2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022(Jan-June) | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Palace Bar | 19 | 34 | 85 | 94 | 33 |
Centerfold’s | 32 | 30 | 53 | 95 | 24 |
Builder’s/Boardroom | 10 | 42 | 51 | 108 | 31 |
NUMBERS # 3-BASED ON HOURS OPEN
2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022(Jan-June) | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Palace Bar | 19 | 34 | 85 | 94 | 33 |
Centerfold’s | 45 | 43 | 138 | 152 | 38 |
Builder’s/Boardroom | 16 | 65 | 80 | 149 | 48 |
COMMENTS (CONTINUED)

So there you have it. Once again he is lying. As you can see by the three charts all three businesses have similar numbers. Nobody really stands out. So for the Mayor to say
“Throughout the first half of 2022, the Palace was the cause of more police calls than any other establishment in the city” is misleading, libelous and slanderous in my opinion.
Another “Truman Show” moment from the “Lieman Show” Mayor. Hard to believe that he is the Mayor of your city or any other city for that matter.
So today Aug. 4, 2024 I sent the following email to the Mayor and Chief Winterscheidt and as always, I’ll let you know what happens. Here it is:

In the Mayor's letter dated December 6, 2022, the mayor stated the following:
"Throughout the first half of 2022, the Palace was the cause of more police calls than any other establishment in the city."
My requests are the following:
1- To Mayor Paine, could you please send me the documentation to support the above allegation you made in that letter.
2-To Mayor Paine and/or Chief Winterscheidt. Could you please provide me with a list of the total amount of police calls for the top 10 establishments in Superior (all businesses, not just bars) for the first 6 months of 2022. Just the names and number of calls would be fine. I don't need a breakdown or details of the calls.
Thanks,
Brian Noel
And how about this letter from the Mayor to Councilor Tylor Elm dated March 18, 2022, only 8 hours after the ONLY shooting. This was posted on Blog 9:
131. Typed Letter from Mayor Paine to Tylor Elm, March 18,2022, 10:25 AM. That is about 8 hours after the shooting.
132.Good morning Tylor,
I’ve also spoken to Ms. Hyatt this morning. Here’s the background and next steps. I’ll allow the PD to add anything I’ve missed.
The Palace was a source of frequent frustration for Ms. Hyatt and her employees last year. Several police officers, the Chief, and I spoke with her and the police followed up with the Palace. The general impression we got was of a somewhat rough, ugly, and late night, heavy drinking bar. While I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone, we didn’t find anything that merited significant action, such as a review of their license or triggering the nuisance ordinance. Most of the actual problems involved drinking in the back alley, some minor property damage, and fighting. The criminal activity wasn’t significant or common enough to merit much response beyond increased patrols and some communication with the owner of the Palace. However, I should make clear that Ms. Hyatt, who runs an early morning business, was enduring a very frustrating and often frightening situation. The loud music and chaotic atmosphere, while within the allowable limits of their license, made life at A Dozen Excuses very hard. After communicating with her and the Palace, we reached the end of our ability to intervene and I didn’t hear anything from her until this morning.
She is correct, there was a rather extreme shooting last night. I don’t believe there was any loss of life but injury appears likely and I am optimistic the police will make an arrest soon. However, this dramatically changes our view of the Palace as a licensed business. I will convene our law enforcement team on Monday and begin discussing all of our options, including our most serious consequences. In the meantime, I’ll ask the Police Department to increase patrols for the weekend and immediately engage with the owner of the Palace to reinforce the license obligation to maintain a safe premises.
I’ve communicated our next steps to Ms. Hyatt and I’ll follow up with her and you again next week after the team has met and especially if and when we decide to take further action.
Have a good weekend,
Jim

He was making some sense but as the letter went on the wheels fell off and the lies started flowing.

502. He then goes on to say the following:
“Patrons, police officers, and the surrounding community faced serious danger on a weekly basis due to the mismanagement of this tavern.”

Another manufactured line to again makes us look like the gatekeepers of Hell. First off, how do think we would stay in business if that was true. How would we have any patrons at all. Despite your weaponizing the police with your phony “bar checks” in the guise of safety, despite your unprecedented assault of our company through the relentless stories in the Superior Telerag and the Duluth Fake News Tribune which you were part of with your lying statements, our business just kept rolling along because our customers, which quite frankly is our number one priority, were not buying into his bullsh*t and lies.

YAPPING LIZARD

MELISSA HYATT
And when you said “and the surrounding community faced serious danger on a weekly basis”. Really? That’s strange because the only person that I know of that probably felt that way was our resident sociopath and yapping lizard, your bestie, Melissa Hyatt. I owned the Palace for five and half years and not once did anybody in the community ever come to me and expressed that they faced serious danger. And you would think if they did they likely would have and I’m not hard to find. I have said on numerous Blogs that I am a big supporter of law enforcement and always have been. I have met many of the men and women of the Superior Police Department and I think they are well equipped to deal with any problem that comes their way and I doubt any of them lost any sleep because of the Palace.
I would like to respond to Mayor Paine’s statement below:
“Patrons, police officers, and the surrounding community faced serious danger on a weekly basis due to the mismanagement of this tavern.”
And here is my statement below:
“Patrons, police officers, and the surrounding community faced serious danger on a daily basis due to the mismanagement of Mayor Paine.”

I contend that this city is in danger because of his hostile attitude towards businesses, his bad decisions includes NTEC, vape stores, the Palace Bar and many others. His fiscally bad decisions including Disconnect Superior, the revival of the Princess Theater and the Carnegie Library. If these projects fail and I believe there is a good chance that they will, it could cost the taxpayers of Superior tens of millions of dollars. And then there his strange obsession with Melissa Hyatt. I will write more about all these subjects and more on future Blogs.
503. Well that’s it for today. I’ll see you all back here soon.
Brian
